Latest Updates from Our Project:
Con of the North, Book 2, and a Suit Preview...

Pilots,
Before moving on to our next update, we’d like to take a moment to use this platform to share a simple but serious message regarding events unfolding in our own backyard.
As most of you are aware, 3301 is a Minneapolis-based company. Like many of the residents of this wonderful city, we have been personally and tangibly impacted by the unprecedented use of force by our own government as well as its blatant attempts to obfuscate reality.
We unequivocally agree and stand with the protestors against the shocking treatment of people, regardless of citizenship, as well as the despicable disregard for human life as perpetrated by ICE and the CBP.
Should any of that not ‘sit well’ with one of you, please reach out to us directly. We will enthusiastically issue you a refund and part ways.
-The 3301 team
[Now On to the Update]
Greetings Pilots!
We come to you, once again, with some exciting things to share. We know that people like you are undertaking their SALVAGE stories, and we’re excited to lay more challenges before you in the coming months. We think of our Salvage Pilot community whenever we’re working on the game, and we’re pleased to know you’re out there getting into mech-suited mischief.
In fact, we’re very much looking forward to hearing your stories of Salvage Suit shenanigans at Con of the North this upcoming February 13-15 in Minneapolis! The creative team behind SALVAGE: Deep Space will be at the con, courtesy of T.C.A.T Board Gaming, to demo the game and talk all things Sol System.
Demos will be on the 13th and the 15th, and are currently fully booked. However, we’ll still be at the Con, so if you’d like an opportunity to chat please reach out to us via email. We can’t promise anything, but we want to ensure all of our friends and supporters get an opportunity to meet up.
Meanwhile, progress continues on Book 2 of the SALVAGE Story. We’re currently transitioning from copy revisions to book layout, where the carefully orchestrated saga of player choices is translated to visually digestible (and referenceable) pages. We’re excited to get this content into your hands, and while you’ll need to wait a little longer to see all of it, we would love to share a preview of some of what awaits in Book 2.
Book 2 contains a lot more of what you love from SALVAGE, more environments to explore, more backgrounds for your Pilots with stories to discover, more mainline story to navigate, and–perhaps most importantly–more Salvage Suits. We’re proud to introduce you to one of the suits you’re soon to recruit in Book 2…
Warning: This content could be viewed as a spoiler. If you’re an experiential purist you may want to skip the following.
Beyond a sealed bulkhead you have yet to discover lies a chamber. Old systems still cycle the air. An old light still burns. At its center stands something built to endure far worse than neglect.
The XL-42 Fornax does not sleep—it waits.
Born on Mars and engineered for the most hostile environments humanity dared to enter, the Fornax is a four-armed exomech designed to reshape its surroundings through sheer industrial will. Reinforced plating and self-hardening systems allow its pilot to push deeper into hazardous zones, while its specialized manipulators turn raw terrain into opportunity. Stone can be broken down or reinforced. Wreckage can become armor. Failing structures can be stabilized—or repurposed. Where other suits adapt to the battlefield, the Fornax builds bulwarks.
Once worn by Martian pioneers and hazard crews, the XL-42 was a tool of survival in places where retreat was not an option. Now, one stands ready again—silent, scarred, and waiting for a pilot bold enough to step inside and bring the furnace back online. We can’t wait to hear what you do with the XL-42.
For the online audience, we can report that progress is being made on the official Tabletop Simulator version of SALVAGE: Deep Space! This isn’t yet available to the public at-large, but as we receive further updates we’ll excitedly share them with you.
In the meantime, here’s a little peek at what it looks like over there!

The Voyage to Book 2, Tabletop Simulator, and Con of the North

Hello there from your friends and compatriots over at 3301 Games!
We wanted to provide an update on SALVAGE: Deep Space, and what we’ve been cooking up for everyone’s favorite co-operative science fiction dungeon crawler. We’ve been a bit underground the past few months, and we are excited to start electrifying the airwaves with information about the completion of the SALVAGE story.
We have a few things to update you on–some digital and others related to real-world activities–but the biggest of them is the progress on Book 2, the second half of the missions and story that makes up the SALVAGE saga.
This content-rich book brings a lot of material to the journeyman Salvage Pilot. The second and third acts of the story will come to a conclusion. Exactly how you reach that conclusion, however, will depend on your crew’s endeavors in Sol System. You will play another 30-45 missions, depending on your playstyle, but still with the rich branching narrative you’ve come to expect from SALVAGE: Deep Space.
Discover the stories of six more unlockable Salvage Suits. We know these envelopes (and possibly miniatures) have been tempting you from their resting place within the game box. In Book 2, you’ll discover the locations of these lost technologies, filling out your crew roster to a possible 18 Pilots.
Book 2 also brings along new character backgrounds, befitting the unfolding story and the locations you’ll now discover. Like any good adventure tale, the characters our heroes meet along the way help embed the crew in the story. Now you’ll be able to create characters whose story began on Mars, amongst the stars, or… elsewhere…
We are also adding in a helpful Errata and FAQ section, powered by the ongoing feedback we’ve received from this incredible community. As we keep updating you on Book 2, keep checking in with these updates for snapshots of what’s coming in that section.
"How long is this going to take?" (-you, we assume)
As with every step of this journey, we want to keep you as informed as we’re able. Our small team is setting forth a schedule which we’ve polished up visually to share with you. This is based on our best estimates, and we’ll continue to update you as we execute on this plan.
Here are more details on what's displayed above:
Now-Jan 19 Copy Revisions: the very first thing we’ll need to do is dot the “i”s and cross the “t”s on our content. In truth, the story for SALVAGE needed to be fairly well defined to ensure the reference numbers and complications in the first book would function as intended. Although most of the content is written, we still wanted to take time to absorb our material through the lens of the initial release and make another round of tweaks and polish. Once locked down, we can get it laid out.
Final FAQ/Errata: Based on your feedback, this section will help all future players have a more seamless experience.
Jan 19-Feb 20 Book Layout
Feb 20-26 Post Layout Revisions
Feb 27 Book 2 PDF Release and move to print. (Books will be printed locally with a 2-3 week run time.)
March 20 - Printed books shipping estimate.
With a few notes on our priorities:
Book Layout: This book will leverage the structure and design toolkit from the first Book. However, new components need to be created to support the thematic elements of Act 2 and 3, and to align with any lessons learned from Book 1.
Book 2 PDF Delivery: Immediately upon completionof the Book 2 print file, we intend to deliver it to all our Salvage Pilots. Anyone whose SALVAGE journey is underway will be able to immediately continue their Sol System story.
Printing in the USA: The same time we deliver the PDF copy to you, we will send the file for local printing. This process is timely, but perhaps not as time consuming as you might expect, and we’ll deliver physical copies to backers the moment they’re ready.
We’re endlessly grateful to everyone who helped realize this game. We want to ensure you can complete your adventure with a compelling conclusion.
Have you ever wanted to play SALVAGE: Deep Space, but on your computer instead of a real, physical table? Well if you have we have great news for you! Right now, as we speak, a cabal of dark wizards (or close enough) is working on a complete port of SALVAGE to Tabletop Simulator. This robust tool (in case you haven’t heard of it) allows you to simulate a tabletop gaming experience with friends online.
Over here at 3301 we’ve played quite a few games on Tabletop Simulator over the years, and it’s quite magical to join the ranks of such a vibrant community. If this is the kind of thing you’re into, check out the progress here!
Also. (If you can reach the greater Minneapolis area) In 2026 you can come try SALVAGE for yourself at Con of the North! This convention has become a favorite of ours, and this year we’ll be running demos of SALVAGE. Come meet us, try the game, ask us questions. We’d love to meet you and hear stories of your exomech exploits so far. The convention is Feb 13-15 2026, and we’ll be there on Friday and Sunday. Mark your calendars, now!
As all of our friends at PAX Unplugged already know, we weren’t able to make it this year. We love that con, too, and all our friends in Philly. We hope to see you there next year!

Good news, Everyone! All Boxes have been Shipped!
– Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 04:00:13 PM
Greetings Pilots!
Spring is in the air! We hope this update finds you happy, healthy, and that none of you caught the nasty flu that’s been going around. We’ve been pushing through the final stretch of fulfillment at 3301 HQ which leads us to a big announcement:
Kickstarter, BackerKit Late Pledges, and Pre-Order Fulfillment is Complete!
The last wave of boxes are on their way! That means if you were an original Kickstarter Backer, a late pledge through BackerKit, or a Pre-Order through our website, your box should be in the mail if it hasn’t arrived already.
In the next few weeks, if you find yourself still awaiting delivery, feel free to reach out to us. There were some outstanding orders with incomplete BackerKit surveys and failed Credit Card charges that we reached out about but never heard back. We can’t ship out these orders until we have an address and shipping payment, so if you are still awaiting an order, it might be worth it to check on BackerKit.
A Heartfelt ‘Thank You.’
Heya. We did it. We are finally through fulfillment. It was a wild ride at times and was never lost on us how incredibly fortunate we were to have help along the way. Every person from playtester to box packer, from original Backer to Con-goer, everyone contributed to Salvage becoming a reality. Every step of the way, this has felt like a true ‘community project’ and we have done our best to communicate our sincere gratitude throughout.
One more time - We couldn’t have done this without all of your support. Thank you.
There is a small group of people who were so contributory with their knowledge and time that they deserve a specific shout out from us.
Noah, Stucke, Murdock, Rick, Jeff, Violet, and mighty Kormann. You were the cogs of the machine and we will forever be in your debt. Thank you.
Matt, Ash, and Tom. Your contributions and creative engagement with the world of Salvage were both immensely important as well as much needed breaths of fresh air. Thank you.
Lastly and most notably - our two stalwart partners, Alex and Sarah. From inception to finish, both of your support was the single most important factor in us being able to push through the grind. We love you. Thank you.
Next Steps
Now that fulfillment is complete, we will be shifting gears back to supporting SALVAGE and working on Acts 2 & 3. We will continue to make updates to keep everyone in the loop.
FAQ and Errata
We’ve had some really great questions on the discord regarding game mechanics and other questions. In response to this feedback, and areas we’ve identified that either needed more explanation or corrections, we will be putting out FAQ and Errata documents in the next few months. We’ll announce it through a Kickstarter Update once links are live.
Acts 2 & 3
With fulfillment complete, we can get back into the creative groove and finish up Acts 2 and 3. These are included with your purchase of the game and we will be shipping them out as soon as they’re complete and printed (likely as one book). The next few updates will probably be teasing some content from these acts where you’ll get to explore Mars and beyond!

Kickstarter Fulfillment Complete, FinalPre-Orders on the Way!

– Fri, Feb 28, 2025 at 12:33:25 PM
Greetings Pilots!
We hope this update finds you well as daylight slowly returns to us. We’ve been plugging away at 3301 HQ and have some exciting news to share with you as well as some updates for our plans over the next few weeks.
Kickstarter Fulfillment is Complete!
We’re excited to announce the Kickstarter portion is almost entirely finished. The last few boxes went out in the mail this past weekend and should be in your hands soon. We do have some outstanding orders with incomplete BackerKit surveys and failed Credit Card charges, so if you have not received your copy by next week, please let us know - likely there was an issue with your order and we need information to resolve it.
Pre-Order Fulfillment Update
We have been trying to fulfill boxes in the order they were placed, so with the Kickstarter phase wrapping up, we just have a few dozen late pledges to fulfill. We expect the rest of these should be in the mail in the next few weeks as we assemble the final boxes. As always, we appreciate your patience as we roll through this process. Remember, if you have questions/concerns about the status of your copy, never hesitate to reach out to us.
Next Steps
Once fulfillment is complete, we will be changing gears to content creation. As we announced before, and many of you have seen in your boxes, we’re going to be releasing Acts II & III later this year. We’re excited to get back into some more creative work and get more content into you, the player’s hands. We’ll release more information as we get back into this process.

While you will still be able to find us by searching @3301Games on most platforms. Unfortunately, our help with social media fell through, so these will likely be dormant at least until we complete fulfillment. January Update + Final Fulfillment Road Map
about 1 year ago
– Fri, Jan 17, 2025 at 01:56:22 PM
Happy Friday Pilots!
It has been awhile since our last check-in. We hope the dust has settled on what is typically an eventful albeit stressful time of the year for many. 3301 HQ has been a hub of activity as we continue to send out weekly tranches of boxes. In this update we will provide a high-level schedule for the remaining fulfillment.
Final Roadmap - 8 weeks from the final finish line
As many of you found out during the holidays, fulfillment never stopped here at HQ. We have been at capacity sending out boxes every week at a pace that will continue until we are completely finished. With the end in sight, we feel comfortable posting a broad timeline, outlining the remaining lift for our team.
Roadmap
As always, if you have any questions about where your rewards/order falls into the overall roadmap - please reach out to one of us directly.
Future Updates
We will continue with our monthly update cadence and will check back in a few weeks.
