Latest Updates from Our Project:
Gaining Intel with the Sensor Array
– Fri, May 10, 2024 at 03:00:06 PM
Hello Pilots!
We hope this Friday finds you well. Everyone here at 3301 is working diligently to support our game, bringing it to life and getting ready to share it with you. We couldn’t have made it this far without your support, and every week we’re humbled and empowered by the support from our community of Salvage Pilots. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
This week’s update contains a brief project status check-in, as well as expanded information on how your Salvage Crew can use the Sensor Array on your ship to collect more intelligence before undertaking a mission.
Project Status
We’ve been working closely with WinGo as they begin production of SALVAGE. Right now, their team is creating the cards, boards, tokens, and more that will allow you to explore the stars. We’ve been really pleased with the graphic fidelity of the game, they’ve done an excellent job translating the designs into reality. It looks so vibrant!
We’ll continue to keep you updated on their progress as we receive word.
Spotlight: Sensor Array
When you're planning a mission in SALVAGE: Deep Space, gathering the right information ahead of time is really important. It can mean the difference between your Salvage Crew succeeding or failing. The equipment you choose for your crew and the pilots you assign depend a lot on what kind of challenges you'll face. Your ship has something called a Sensor Array that helps by giving you different levels of details about each mission. The better your Sensor Array is upgraded, the more info you get.
Every time your crew prepares to undertake a mission, you’ll look at the Mission Profile, which tells you about the environment, enemies, and what you’re trying to collect. But this is just basic info. To get more details, you use your ship's Sensor Array, which starts out at Level 1. This allows them you set up the Launch Tile with all the details from the Mission Profile and see all the Enemy Cards you'll face.
All the Enemy Cards needed for the mission are taken out and placed next to the set-up Launch Tile.
Now, your player group can look over your set-up, adding extra details to the basic mission info. How well you use this information can really help you make smart choices.
As you level up the Sensor Array, you can set up more Mission Tiles in your game space. This represents your scanner getting more detailed data from further inside the mission area. Keep in mind, though, that these extra areas can't be interacted with until you activate their Checkpoint.

Greenlighting Production and The Directorial of Epoch
almost 2 years ago
– Fri, Apr 26, 2024 at 05:38:25 PM
Hello Pilots!
Straight from 3301 HQ, we're beaming out another wave of thanks and good vibes to each and every Salvage Pilot out there. It’s your support that fuels our journey through the development of SALVAGE: Deep Space, and we're thrilled to share some crucial updates as we chart a course towards the unknown rim of the Solar System.
Project Status: Final Prototype Approved!
Big news from the production front — our latest prototype from WinGo Games has been received, rigorously reviewed, revised, and is now officially green-lit for mass production! This marks a major milestone in our voyage, ensuring that the components you'll soon hold in your hands are not only legible and accurate, but really top-notch. We're immensely proud of the hard work our team and partners at WinGo have put into making this dream a reality.
Lore Spotlight: The Directorial
Dive deeper into the lore of the Post-Event Solar System with this update’s spotlight on The Directorial. It is believed that Epoch Station’s governance began as a parliamentary democracy, designed by social scientists of Old-Earth and and organized by the powerful states that built the station. They created 'The Directorial,' a bicameral parliament managing legislative duties, with one chamber drafting laws and the other representing citizen concerns.
However, in the wake of The Event, as FifeCo's influence grew. The government structure significantly changed, becoming a shadow of its original democratic intent. Today, while some officials still strive to represent the people, many are swayed by corporate interests or personal ambitions. The public security force, EPS, originally modeled on Earth's law enforcement, now often upholds laws favoring the powerful, reflecting the deepening corruption and the rise of private security forces that are even less accountable. Like many power structures that predate The Event, The Directorial stands as both a nod to a hopeful past and an example of the evolving obstacles facing humanity in the present.
Gen Con Pick-Up Option
As plans continue to develop for Gen Con 2024, remember to let us know if you prefer to pick up your copy of SALVAGE: Deep Space in person. It’s a fantastic way to dive right into the action, and you might just meet some fellow Pilots face to face! If you’re planning to attend, shoot us a quick message via social or email, and we’ll have your game box ready.

Spotlights: Evergreen and ZJN
– Fri, Apr 12, 2024 at 03:54:58 PM
Incoming waveband, Pilots!
As we mentioned in our last update, we want to provide ongoing looks within the world of SALVAGE: Deep Space as we complete the production process. This week we continue looking at the corporations enabling and shaping life in Sol System. Corporations you’ll need to deal with if you want to make a living as a Salvage Pilot.
In the Post-Event Solar System, an individual’s loyalties are often shaped by their locales or corporate affiliations. These two companies fall within the general influence of FifeCo, with their headquarters on Epoch Station. We’re talking about the medcorp Evergreen and the engineering company ZJN.
Spotlight: Evergreen
Evergreen stands as the primary provider of health necessities within Epoch Station, offering a comprehensive array of medications, medical implants, and treatments designed to combat the diverse range of ailments associated with space life. Their reputation precedes them, characterized by a tendency to develop groundbreaking permanent cures and solutions, albeit often at exorbitant prices. This pricing strategy frequently nudges the majority of citizens toward opting for temporary treatments or embracing cybernetic enhancements as alternatives.
Their rationale for these steep costs finds its roots in their continuous pursuit of innovation. Evergreen frequently justifies their pricing model by emphasizing the substantial financial resources required for the development of further advancements in the field. Thus, while their products may come with a hefty price tag, they assert that these investments are essential for pushing the boundaries of medical science and ensuring a healthier future for all inhabitants of the station.
Spotlight: ZJN
ZJN, with roots predating The Event, is seen by the public as FifeCo’s main corporate rival. Initially a mining corporation, they transitioned to habitat construction and development to fill the dire need after The Event. An industrial powerhouse, they have expertise in mining asteroids for materials and energy, which made them well suited to the job. Many Post-Event habitats of medium or small size are ZJN-pattern, especially on smaller asteroids.
However, their reputation took a major hit 20 years before our story takes place, when a massive space station they constructed suffered a devastating failure, resulting in significant loss of life. This is known as the ‘ZJN Tragedy.’ Since then, customers have been wary of ZJN, even though necessity dictates a certain amount of interfacing with the engineering giant.
Fulfillment Clarification
We have confirmed with WinGo that based on our current timeline we’ll have game boxes fully completed ready for fans and Backers by Gen Con. Leading up to the convention, we’ll be receiving all boxes from WinGo and hand packing each box with love at 3301 HQ. Fulfillment pace will be based on our ability and will take place the week before and weeks immediately subsequent to Gen Con. If you're going to be in attendance while in Indianapolis and would prefer to pick up your copy in person, just let us know! As we enter this final leg of the journey and prepare to land, your support continues to mean the world to us.

SALVAGE Shipping Plan
– Fri, Mar 29, 2024 at 03:59:50 PM
Hello Pilots!
We here at 3301 Command hope you’re having a fantastic Friday. We’re happy that it’s time to give you another update on SALVAGE: Deep Space, how things are developing, and with a special focus on our Shipping Plan going forward. It’s because of you that we’re able to bring this game to life, and we can’t wait to hear how each of your stories unfold in the Post-Event Solar System.
Project Status
We’re fine tuning some components with our manufacturer WinGo as they help us optimize the game’s layout for production.
For example, we’ve adjusted the layout of Improvement and Modification stickers. If you saw our prototypes at PAX Unplugged or Con of the North, you’ll have seen a large single sheet of stickers. This was unwieldy to use and store, and we’ve replaced it with seven smaller sticker sheets.
The last of these optimizations was completed this week, and we’re now looking forward to our final pre-production prototype. As soon as we have it we’ll be sure to let you know!
Shipping Plan
We’ve drawn a big red circle around Gen Con 2024, and structured our plan to ensure we have boxes in our hands–and on the way to yours–by then. That is one of the biggest events in the industry all year, and sharing SALVAGE with the world on such a broad stage is too great an opportunity to miss.
Once we’ve reviewed and approved the prototype, then it’ll be time to mass produce! While that’s going on there are some t’s we can cross and i’s we can dot to make fulfillment possible. We’ll need some things from you, but we don’t want anything to feel like a surprise. To that end, we wanted to outline our shipping plan–detailing key milestones and what you can expect.
Finalize Shipping Quotes
We’ll be able to do this based on Prototype Weight
Determine Segments
Then we’ll want to evaluate how best to distribute the games. We’ll use final head count, distribution, and backer segments to find the most affordable, reliable option.
Charge Warning
When we’re ready to begin mass production we’ll warn you of incoming charges.
Charge Cards
Two days after that warning, we’ll charge cards for any shipping or outstanding charges
.Shipping Warning
30-40 days before we anticipate receiving the games, we’ll notify you again with the final shipping plan.
Address Lock Warning
Approx 23 days before we take delivery of the games, we’ll warn you that addresses will be locking.
Lock Addresses
21 days before receiving the games, we’ll lock addresses for delivery.
3301 Receives Games
There is much rejoicing.
Hand Packing
We’ll configure the games for Legacy gameplay, add the miniatures, dice, and adversary bases, and seal them with a sticker.
Begin Fulfillment Shipping
About a week after we begin Hand Packing we’ll start printing labels, packing for shipment, and mailing out orders.
There will be some variability in the timing of these steps, however we’ve made an attempt to give you our best projections. We appreciate your understanding while we evaluate the best ways to tackle the challenges of creating a board game.
Upcoming Spotlights
In the interim, we have lots more to illuminate about SALVAGE, from the agencies that make up its world to the foes you’ll face. Be sure to keep checking in on these updates to get primed towards the SALVAGE way of mind. Next update we’ll explore more of Sol System’s corporate entities, which you’ll encounter during your journey.

Spotlights on Echo & Warne Agency
– Fri, Mar 15, 2024 at 02:30:40 PM
Waveband incoming, Pilots!
As we continue the process of bringing SALVAGE: Deep Spaceto your patiently waiting hands, we want to continue giving you insight into the world you’ll be exploring.
The Post-Event Solar System is a rich and vibrant place, full of people who turn the cogs that make the machine of humanity run. With the landmasses and cultures of Old Earth long gone, most now form their loyalty and identity around where they live or what corporate interests they serve.
Although FifeCo holds the most power and influence (read more about them here), it is far from being the only player at the table in Sol System. This week we want to shine a Spotlight on two other major companies: Echo & Warne Agency.
Spotlight: Echo
Media is as much a part of life out amongst the stars as it is on any terrestrial body. Entertainment, marketing, news, and correspondence suffuse a human’s life as much as breath, except for those who go out of their way to avoid it. If you aren’t one of those rare few, then you’ve definitely seen media produced by Echo.
Operating under the umbrella of FifeCo, Echo stands as the primary entertainment hub within Epoch Station. They sell advertising, create and control the primary news media sources, create entertainment properties for streaming, sign musical acts, and touch on every form of media we know. Despite emphasizing an image of “just the facts” impartiality, most people view Echo as FifeCo's tool for disseminating propaganda. They operate on a strict hierarchical basis, with messaging being decided at the top and then passed down.
Like many of the media companies of Old Earth, most people see Echo as a necessary evil. Unless you have the interest and equipment to search out alternate media feeds they’re often the only game in town if you want to unwind after work.
Spotlight: Warne Agency
Without nationstates or governing bodies to supply them, Post-Event Sol System has no official peacekeeping force. Instead, Security Companies are hired to enforce law and order within the stations they occupy. What form that law takes is largely defined by the body that hired them, and can vary in terms of how strict it is. Especially within the inner belt, the big security contracts go to Warne Agency.
Though not officially part of FifeCo, Warne is significantly reliant on them as their primary client. They are Epoch Station's leading private security force, with a reputation for effectiveness that occasionally treads into brutality. Many rumors circulate about their methods, and they are also known for taking over law enforcement roles on the station.
Most denizens of Epoch try to avoid Warne Agents whenever possible.
Fulfillment Progress: Shipping
Pilots, it’s almost time for us to lock down our shipping plan. Our next update will contain all the details, but we wanted to refresh your memory well in advance; we will be confirming, locking, and billing the shipping costs for SALVAGE now that we have finalized our components. This process will start in earnest the end of this month (March 2024.) As many of you know, this can be large lift for small team, and so we humbly request you work with us to ensure the most seamless path to get boxes into your hands.
